The easiest way to clean blinds
As with most household items, regular dust cleaning will reduce the need for annual basic cleaning.
White vinegar is a quick and easy way to clean blinds. Just place a clean soft towel on your hand and dip your covered fingertips in a bowl of vinegar. Slide your hand through the top and bottom of each slat and you’re done!
For vinyl, artificial wood and other less sensitive materials, run a microfiber cloth through each blind to reduce static sticking and minimize dust.
For deep cleaning
How to clean, vertical blinds can be difficult to handle, but if you take the time, you can clean them sparklingly without removing them.
Start by placing towels under your vertical blinds to catch the drops. Fill one bucket with clean water and one with soap and water.
Using 2 soap sponges, wipe both sides of the blinds at the same time.
Clean from top to bottom so that the blinds do not protrude from the outlines of the towels.
Rinse your sponge in clean water when they get dirty and continue down the blinds. To prevent water stains, use a dry cloth to wipe off excess water.
Clean dust from your wooden blinds weekly to prevent the accumulation of excessive dirt and dust.
If your wooden blinds are in the kitchen, you will need to clean them more often as grease settles on them.
Grease can ruin the appearance of stained wood blinds and block moisture that can distort wood.
Always remember that excess moisture can distort and discolour the wood.
First, vacuum your wooden blinds and then wipe them with a damp cloth. For stained blinds, consider using lemon oil or wood preservatives to give them extra shine.
Artificial wood blinds are extremely popular and rightly so! They provide a beautiful view without costing much.
To clean them, remove excess dust and dirt with a vacuum cleaner.
Then mix lukewarm water and mild detergent. Wet a soft cloth and run your finger in front and back.
Don’t forget to soak up and then close.
Artificial wood blinds are durable, so it is safe to remove them and clean them in the tub.
Fill the tub with hot soapy water and dip the blinds.
Leave them to soak for at least an hour and then spray them with hot water.
Shake the blinds and wipe off excess water before hanging them back.
