A. These marks sound like ‘ghost stains’ – they disappear when wet but return when dry. The reason? Acid etching into the polished granite surface is caused when you spill something acid-based, such as lemon or fruit juice, ketchup, vinegar or even via ring marks from the base of a cleaning bottle. There’s not much else you can do except have the surface reground, which is very expensive and not always possible.
